RÉsumÉ
Les auteurs rapportent six cas d’œsophagite ulcérative associée ð un traitement ð la doxycycline. Tous les patients décrits ont présenté une dysphagie sévère et des douleurs rétrosternales au cours des 2 ð 18 heures après ingestion du médicament. L’endoscopie a révélé des ulcérations de la partie moyenne de l’œsophage dans chaque cas. Les symptômes ont disparu rapidement après interruption de l’antibiothérapie, et l’endoscopie de contrôle a montré la guérison complète des lésions œsophagiennes après 12 jours.
Summary
Six cases of ulcérative oesophagitis associated with doxycycline therapy are described. All patients presented with severe dysphagia and retrosternal pain 2- 18 hours after ingestion of the drug. Mid- oesophageal ulcérations were revealed by fibre- optic oesophagoscopy in every case. Symptoms disapperead shortly after discontinuation of antibiotic therapy and endoscopy demonstrated complete healing of the oesophageal lesions within 12 days.
