A comparative study of the medium and intermedium type of colonoscope

Summary

We refer to 347 and 223 patients examined with the medium (100 cm) and intermedium type of colonoscope respectively. The cases with organic stenosis or dirty colon, that prevented us from reaching the cecum, were not considered.

Both endoscopes proved very handy and durable, but the intermedium colonoscope allowed us to reach the cecum significantly more frequently and to explore the terminal ileum more adequately.
