Role of gastric scintiscanner examination in exploration of gastro-oesophageal reflux in children

  • Published:
Acta Endoscopica

Summary

Gastric scintiscanner examination using technetied sulfocolloid has few constraints except perhaps for the length of recording. It now plays a role in exploration of gastro-oesophageal reflux and its complications. Its physiological characteristics and small irradiation level whatever the number of images taken, its sensitivity making late images possible and the possibility of quantification as well as showing an eventual pulmonary passage are its principle advantages over conventional X-Ray examination and other methods of oesogastric exploration.
