Granular cell tumor of the esophagus: endoscopic resection a safe and effective procedure for small size tumors

Résumé

Les auteurs rapportent un cas de tumeur à cellules granulaires chez un homme âgé de 40 ans. La tumeur localisée dans le tiers distal de ľoesophage, a été extirpée sous endoscopic. Jusqu’à présent, cette technique n’a été adoptée que dans 8 des 47 cas publiés dans la littérature mondiale. Les particularités anatomo-cliniques et la stratégie du traitement de ces tumeurs sont discutées.

Summary

We present the case history of a 40 old-white-man, with a granular cell tumor which was localized in the distal esophagus: It was removed by endoscopic resection. In the 47 cases of granular cell tumor that have been reported in the world literature, this modality of treatment has been performed in only eight cases. Characteristics and treatment of this tumor are discussed.
