Summary
An analysis of the clinical findings in 44 patients admitted to hospital for menisectomy showed a reliable clinical diagnostic pattern in 68% of cases, all of whom were found to have meniscal tears at operation. Fifty per cent of the remaining cases also had meniscal tears giving a clinical accuracy of 84%. In cases of doubt, arthrography and arthroscopy should be performed.
