Summary
The successful management of a mycotic aneurysm of the superficial femoral arter, secondary to pneumococcal septicaemia, by suture occlusion of the entry and exit vessels, is reported. Mycotic aneurysms, because of their tendency to rupture or produce metastatic infection, are dangerous lesions requiring early operative correction. In the limbs, however, simple ligation, or occlusion, of the feeding artery may be all that is required for control.
