Zusammenfassung

Für mehr als 100 Jahre bildeten die kirchlichen Krankenhäuser das Rückgrad der Gesundheitsversorgung in Tansania. Heute jedoch leiden viele Hospitäler an Unterbelegung, einige müssen geschlossen werden. Eine Analyse der Einzugsbereiche der Krankenhäuser der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Tansania zeigt die Ursachen dieser Entwicklung: Schlechte Dienstleistungsqualität, überhöhte Preise, Konkurrenz, verbesserte Infrastruktur und zunehmende Mobilität reduziert die Attraktivität und damit die Einzugsbereiche dieser Dienstleistungszentren. Eine Reform des Krankenhauswesens dieser Kirche muss deshalb Distanzen und Distanzreibungen berücksichtigen, um eine angemessene Versorgung der Bevölkerung sicherzustellen.

Abstract

For more than 100 years church-related hospitals constituted the backbone of health care services in developing countries. However, several of them are suffering from low occupancy these days, some will have to be closed down. An analysis of the catchment areas of hospitals of the Evang. Luth. Church in Tanzania reveals the reasons for this development: poor quality of service, exaggerated prices, competition, improved infrastructure, and increasing mobility reduce the gravity and the catchment areas of these centres. Any reform of the hospital system of this church must consider distances and distance friction in order to guarantee adequate hospital services for the population.
