The relative distribution of protein-bound polysaccharide in foetal and maternal sheep serum

  • Published:
Irish Journal of Medical Science (1926-1967)

Summary

The relative distribution of protein-bound polysaccharide in the protein components of pregnant and foetal sheep serum was examined by paper electrophoresis. The foetalα 1 andα 2-globulins of the foetus were found to be particularly rich in these substances. With increasing foetal age a marked fall in the proportion of the total serum polysaccharide associated withα 2-globulin was observed.
