Summary
An account is given of the problems encountered in the examination of the Galway city water supply. The findings in the piped samples are discussed and the reasons prompting a survey of the main stream and Lough Corrib water are given. The biological and bacteriological findings in the river water are discussed. The plankton deposits are described, and their effect on the raw water discussed. Possibilities in the development of the water supply scheme are given, with the probable effect of the algal deposits, unless these are controlled.
