The effect of cortisone administration on the electrophoretic pattern of the plasma proteins in certain pathological conditions

  • Published:
Irish Journal of Medical Science (1926-1967)

Summary

The influence of cortisone therapy on the plasma electrophoretic patterns was studied in pregnancy toxæmia, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic fever and osteaorthritis mutilans. The results obtained in pregnancy toxaemia were varied and did not indicate any specific effect. The plasma electrophoretic pattern in a case of rheumatoid arthritis became more normal. Plasma from patients with osteoarthritis mutilans and rheumatic fever showed no significant changes.
