Additional information
a As this communication was written previous to the last issue of the Dublin Quarterly Journal I had no opportunity, until subsequently, of perusing the valuable clinical observations of Professor Banks on Thoracentesis, and the Employment of the Drainage Tube. It is very satisfactory to me to know that his views as to the applicability of the operation to many cases of empyema and hydrothorax, generally supposed to be out of reach of relief by surgical treatment, are quite in unison with my own, or even go beyond them.
