Aplastic anaemia in a patient with pure red cell aplasia

Summary

A case of aplastic anaemia is reported which developed in a patient who initially presented with pure red cell aplasia and it is proposed that this sequence further supports the concept that autoimmune mechanisms already postulated may be involved in the aetiology of aplastic anaemia.
