Abstract
Emphysematous pyelonephritis is a lifethreatening complication of renal infection. Most patients previously reported have been diabetics. An unusual patient is reported who experienced emphysema in an infected polycystic kidney. The case is unusual in the radiographic findings and in that the patient was a nondiabetic with renal failure who survived an emergency nephrectomy.
