Non-invasive localisation of tumours of the adrenal gland

Irish Journal of Medical Science Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The case histories of 3 patients with adrenal tumours are described. Two of the patients had phaeochromocytoma and one, a baby, had a neuroblastoma. Localisation of the tumour was accomplished by computer axial tomography (CT) and by ultrasonography. In all 3 cases, the tumour was equally well, and in one case, more clearly, delineated by ultrasonography, as by CT. Ultrasonography should be the investigation of first choice in the localisation of tumours of the adrenal gland, as it is accurate, noninvasive and cheap.
