Abstract
The chemostat growth ofThermoanaerobacter ethanolicus was limited by either glucose or xylose. Ethanol yield was dependent primarily upon length of cultivation time and secondarily upon growth rate. Low growth rates favored high ethanol yields (0.42 g/g) from xylose.
