Nachdem mehrere europäische Länder, insbesondere Dänemark und die Niederlande, Offshore-Windparks mit mehreren 100 MW planen, sind auch in Deutschland Initiativen von Privat-Investoren gestartet worden. Ein besonders aussichtsreiches Projekt mit 500 MW wird in der Nordsee bei Helgoland geplant. Besonders die Anforderungen an Genehmigungsfragen werden in diesem Zusammenhang erörtert.
