Summary

A method for the differential determination of the individual members of the vitamin B6 group was developed, usingSaccharomyces carlsbergensis as the single microorganism. The method is based on the application of the principle of screening pyridoxal from the mixture by condensing it with hydroxylamine to yield the inactive pyridoxaloxime. Pyridoxamine is separated by adsorption on the cation exchanger ROA. On the basis of investigation of the optimal conditions of condensation of pyridoxal a procedure is suggested for the determination of the individual members of the vitamin B6 group. The method can be applied to biological material.
