Summary
-
(1)
Some biochemical properties of the effective substance in extracts of cells from delayed hypersensitive animals (hypersensitivity factor) and the properties of pyrogenic substance arising in the reaction of the hypersensitivity factor with antigenin vitro (hypersensitivity pyrogen) were studied.
-
(2)
The hypersensitivity factor as well as the hypersensitivity pyrogen can be precipitated and fractionated under constant conditions using ammonium sulphate, ethanol in the cold and at a definite pH. Both substances are relatively heat stable and are not damaged by extraction with butanol; both substances can be prepared and kept in the freezedried state.

(3)
The results so far have shown the possibility of routine work with the hypersensitivity factor and hypersensitivity pyrogen and thus also the possibility of a biochemical approach to the solution of the problem of delayed hypersensitivity. At the same time they contributed to a further understanding of the biological nature of the reaction of delayed hypersensitive cell extract with antigenin vitro.
Abstract
-
(1)
