Statistik und Operations Research

Zusammenfassung

Nach einer Vorbemerkung über das Verhältnis von Statistik und Operations Research (O.R.) werden Definitionen der beiden Begriffe gegeben. Im Rahmen einer grundsätzlichen Konfrontation von Statistik und O.R. wird festgestellt, daß sich die beiden Bereiche zu einem großen Teil überdecken. Unterschiede assen sich darin erkennen, daß die Statistik im Gegensatz zu O.R. eine gewisse Autonomie und Geschlossenheit aufweist, sowie darin, daß die Statistik eine sog. fundamentale Methode, O.R. hingegen eine heuristische Methode ist, und schließlich darin, daß die Statistik bestimmte Erkenntnisprinzipien, O.R. ein praktisches Prinzip zur Grundlage hat. Die Beziehung von Statistik und O.R. zur Betriebswirtschaftslehre wird kurz charakterisiert. Zum Schluß wird das Grundschema der O.R.-Verfahrensweise der Erkenntnisaufgabe und den Erkenntnismitteln der Statistik gegenübergestellt.

Une remarque préliminaire sur la relation entre la statistique et la recherche opérationnelle est suivie de définitions de ces deux sciences. En confrontant la statistique et l’O.R. l’auteur constate qu’elles sont largement congruentes. Ce qui les distingue c’est que la statistique est close et autonome, qu’elle a une méthode fondamentale, tandis que l’O.R. est un complexe de méthodes heuristiques; enfin, la statistique est fondée sur un principe cognitif, l’O.R. sur un principe pratique. —La relation entre la statistique et l’O.R. d’un coté et l’économie d’entreprise de l’autre est brièvement caractérisée. Pour conclure, on confronte le procédé de base de l’O.R. au but et aux moyens de la connaissance statistique.

Summary

A preliminary remark about the relation between Statistics and Operations Research is followed by definitions of both sciences. Within a confrontation of the principles of Statistics and O.R., the author states that the two disciplines are largely overlapping. Distinguishing features are, that Statistics is autonomous and closed, that Statistics has a fundamental method, O.R. being a complex of heuristic methods; finally Statistics is based on a cognitive principle, O.R. on a practical principle. — The relation between Statistics and O. R.on the one hand and Management Science on the other is characterised in short. Finally, the basic scheme of O.R. method is confronted with the aims and means of statistical knowledge.
