Abstract

Pleurotus sajor-caju is an efficient degrader of the cellulose component of rice straw. Protein contents of the biodegraded straw after fungal growth increased from 1.7 to 10.0 %. Crude fibre and cellulose contents decreased from 32.6 and 45.0 to 6.3 and 17.8 %, respectively. The in vivo digestibility of the biodegraded rice straw increased by 34.1 %.
