Electro-optical measurement of the velocity and concentration of motile microorganisms

Abstract

A new method of measurement of the velocity and concentration of actively motile microorganisms is described. It is based on the evaluation of changes in light flux caused by passages of objects through a light beam. Conventional methods of measurements are briefly surveyed and examples of application of the new method are given.
