Median and linear loss-functions

Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag wird die Relation zwischen einem Median und der absolut-linearen Verlustfunktion studiert. Die Verlustfunktion wird stückweise linear angenommen, aber es wird zugelassen, daß der Anstieg in den beiden Richtungen verschieden ist. Auch Einschränkungen bezüglich der Verteilungsfunktion der betrachteten zufälligen Variablen werden nicht gemacht. Die allgemeine Beziehung wird aufgestellt und bewiesen und ein in der Literatur auftretender Irrtum berichtigt.

Summary

In this note the relationship between a median and absolute linear loss-functions is studied. The loss-function is assumed to be piecewise linear, but the slope is allowed to vary in the two directions. No restrictions are either made concerning the distribution-function of the random variable considered. The general ralationship is established and proved. Moreover one error arising in literature is corrected.

Résumé

Dans cette note nous étudions la relation entre un médian et la fonction de perte absolue-linéaire. La fonction de perte est supposée d’être linéaire par places, mais il est admis que la montée soit différente dans les deux directions. Également, aucunes restrictions sont posées sur la fonction de distribution de la variable en question. La relation générale est établie et démonstrée. Une erreur trouvée dans la littérature est corrigée.

В Этой статье рассматривается отнощение между медианой и абсолютно линейной функцией потерии. Функция потерии принимается кусками линейно, но разрещается что подщем в обоих направлениях разный. Чем ограничен относительно функции распределения, рассмотренной случайной переменной. В Этой статье сделано и доказано обшее отнощение и исправлена ощибка находяшаяся в литературе.
