Abstract
The effects of plastic deformation upon thermal stabilization of austenite in a Fe−Ni−C alloy were studied. The results indicate that the extent of thermal stabilization is dependent on the amount of deformation in austenitic specimens whereas in specimens cooled to below theM s temperature (partially martensitic specimens) it is primarily dependent upon the temperature to which the specimen is cooled (the arrest temperature).
