Abstract
This text gives an idea of the strategic importance of natural rubber and the main procedures allowing it to be preserved in solid or liquid form right from the plantation. Centrifuging obviously does not totally eliminate all nonrubber elements, particularly proteins. Changes in the KOH number and VFA indexes during storage reflect the existence of bacterial activity that can continue for several weeks, if not months. Subsequent texts will provide answers to other questions posed during this round table.
