High-energy large-angle scattering by a strongly singular complex potential

Summary

The experimental data for high-energy proton-proton and pion-proton scattering at large angles are analyzed in terms of a complex, energy-dependent potential of the formV(r)=e −iΔgr−4 with598-1. In general, for center-of-mass angles above 30° a good fit to the data is found. The ratio of the elastic to the total cross-section for the above potential is also calculated and is compared with the experimental values at different energies.

In termini di un potenziale complesso dipendente dall’energia, di formaV(r)=ge iΔ r −4 cong =η 4 k 2, si analizzano i dati sperimentali degli scattering protone-protone e pione protone di alta energia. In generale, per angoli nel sistema del centro di massa superiori a 30° si trova un buon accordo con i dati. Si calcola anche il rapporto fra la sezione d’urto elastica e quella totale per il suddetto potenziale e lo si confronta con i valori sperimentali a diverse energie.
