Abstract
The gravity and magnetic data suggest that east China and adjacent regions can be divided into two tectonic areas: continental area and marginal sea area. Important gradient zones of geophysical anomaly (in longitudinal direction) occur in the Daxinganling-Taihangshan-Wulingshan and the Helan-Longmen mountains. The Yinshan-Yanshan, the Qinling-Dabie, and the Nanling mountains are three fold belts extending in almost east-west direttion and the geophysical anomalies of them are obvious. East China and adjacent regions can be divided into four blocks by these geophysical anomaly zones: Northeast China block, North China block, Yangtze block, and South China block. Each block has distinctive geophysical feature. They collided and were pieced together in different periods. The present study discusses that east China and adjacent regions evolved through five tectonic stages.
