Causal order and quantization. Quantized fields with and without particle interpretation

Summary

A scheme for field quantization on Minkowski time-space is considered, more general than the usual canonical one. The implementation of the characteristic causal functions on Minkowski time-space in the algebra of quantized fields suggests—besides the canonical sector with a possible particle interpretation—also quantized fields whose asymptotic particle interpretation may be avoided by confining them completely to the light-cone. Analogies and differences in comparison with the implementation of the causal structure of time in the quantum algebra of mechanics are shortly mentioned.

Si considera uno schema per la quantizzazione dei campi sullo spazio tempo di Minkowski, piÚ generale di quello canonico consueto. L’applicazione delle funzioni causali caratteristiclie sullo spazio tempo di Minkowski nell’algebra dei campi quantizzati suggerisce — oltre al settore canonico con una possibile interpretazione della particella — anche campi quantizzati la cui interpretazione di particella asintotica si puÒ evitare confinandoli completamente al cono di luce. Si menzionano brevemente analogie e differenze nel confronto con l’implementazione della struttura causale del tempo nell’algebra quantistica della meccanica.
