Summary
Double-perturbation theory for nondegenerate systems is used to study, in a general framework, the perturbation of the Hamiltonian and metric matrices. The connections with previous singleperturbation treatments, interchange and Wigner theorems are discussed. Perturbation theory of secular equations can be viewed as a particular case of the present formalism.
