Conclusions

Oral Foy decreases the elevated lipase/trypsin ratio in 3 out of 4 patients PABA serum test is improved in all patients, the effect on chymotrypsin output in duodenal juice has still to be investigated. The duodenal output of lipase, trypsin and bicarbonate were not significantly changed and this may be due to the non-homogeneous group of patients. These results encourage us to continue the investigation on the effects of oral Foy in patients with chronic pancreatitis by a controlled double-blind study.
