Phenomenological consequences of a bound state of weak vector bosons

Summary

A bound-state S= (VLVL), formed out of the strongly interacting longitudinal component of weak gauge bosons V= W±, Z0, which has been proposed by Veltman in the attempt to interpret the anomalous γll events observed at CERN SppS-collider, is studied phenomenologically. Adopting the nonrelativistic bound-state formalism we derive the effective couplings of Sff, Sγγ and SγZ0 and study the decay of the S-boson into various channels. The S may have a strong effective coupling to a heavy quark SUŪ, or to a heavy lepton SLL if there exists a heavy-quark pair (U, D), or a heavy-lepton pair (ΝL,L), satisfying the mass relation m 2u - m 2D , ≅ M 2W , or\(m_L^2 - m_{v_L }^2 \simeq M_W^2 \), respectively. If such a relation does not hold the S decays dominantly into the γγ(Z0) channel. Some production cross-sections at the future collider experiments are estimated.
