Deflection of a neutrino beam by an external magnetic field

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

The Salam-Weinberg electroweak theory implies that the radiative corrections to the neutrino propagator will involve fields that are coupled to an external magnetic field. The resulting modification to the neutrino propagator implies that a neutrino entering a region with a constant external magnetic field will be partially refracted and partially reflected. This process is examined quantitatively in this paper and is found to be very small.
