Dynamical and statistical aspects of charge distributions in fission

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

We review some aspects of the dynamical and statistical approach to the charge distributions in fission. The dynamical theory assigns to the charge symmetry a harmonic oscillation, while the statistical approach treats the statistical fluctuations near the scission point at high temperatures. We investigate the possibility of exciting giant resonances in fission and their possible influence on the charge equilibration in the fission products. It will be shown that the excitation of giant resonances in a hot system leads to a broadening of the charge distributions.
