Summary and Conclusion

195 cases of primary tuberculosis in children, their ages ranging from 6 months to 15 years have been observed during a two year period at the Chest Clinic, King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam.

Higher incidence of this disease is noticed between the age group of 10–15 years.

The right upper lobe is more frequently involved. A large number of cases came with bilateral infiltration.

Mediastinal lymph node enlargement is seen in 50% of the cases. In other cases enlarged lymph nodes at various sites are the associated findings with the parenchymal lesions.

Two cases of tuberculous osteoarthritis and one case of scrofuloderma are met with.

6.
No cases of erythema nodosum, phlyctenular conjunctivitis or miliary tuberculosis are observed.
