Summary
Making use of the small-excitation technique, we study the content of the physical massive tensor field which enters in the 2-tensor theory formulated by Isham, Salam and Strathdee. It is shown that the physical massive field contains, in general, a pure spin-2 field and one spin-0 field. By employing the ADM techniques, the sign of the energy for the free massive field is also analysed. Finally, we give the asymptotic behaviour for the spherically symmetric static free massive field. We also discuss the behaviour of this solution in the vicinity of the source.
