Transformations of a wave packet in a Penning trap

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The techniques of manipulating the wave packet of a nonrelativistic charged particle in a Penning trap are studied. It is shown that a simple method involving electric shocks applied to the Penning-trap surface can induce the packet to undergo the Fourier, parity, rotation and scale transformations. Some possible technological consequences are discussed.
