Phytochemical examination of the leaves of carica papaya L.

Abstract

Routine crude drug assays and tests tor stetoidal saponins, flavonols, tannins, phenols, organic acids, unsaturated sterols and alkaloids have been made on the leaves of Carica papaya L. The alkaloid, carpaine, was isolated and identified.
