Cadushi (Cereus repandus Mill.), a useful cactus of curacao

Abstract

The cadushi is the more useful of the two columnar cacti which dominate the landscape throughout the island of Curacao. Its fluted stems furnish a staple foodstuff; when dry serve for torches, fuel and fences. Thick trunks of old specimens are useful in carpentry.
