Washing-out final-state strong interactions in the longitudinal polarization asymmetry for e+e→hadron near the Z0 peak to lowest e.m. order

Summary

We show that the longitudinal polarization asymmetry of the process e+e L,R →hadrons with longitudinally polarized electron beam on top of the Z0 resonance is, to lowest order in the electroweak couplingα em, free of strong-interaction effects in the final state. Thus the uncertainty in the theoretical predictions produced by strong interactions is reduced by at least one power ofα em.
