Summary

A detailed clinical study of 115 cases of measles admitted to the Medical College Hospital, Aurangabad, has been presented One hundred and fifteen patients had 287 complications showing the high incidend of two or more complications. Bronchon pneumonia was observed in 85.2% and conjunctivitis in 82.6% of cases. There were 6 deaths (25.1%). The mortality was due to encephalitis (3 deaths), sever diarrhoea and dehydration (2 deaths) and myocarditis (one death). There is not specific treatment for measles. However antibiotics have been used in certain complications and corticoid therapy was given in cases of measles encephalitis with good results. Supportive treatment is of equall significant value in such cases.
