Nephrotic syndrome

Clinical, biochemical and histological correlation

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Twenty-three cases of the nephrotic syndrome have been studied. Male predominance was observed in the whole group, but was most marked in the age group 2 to 5 years. The highest incidence was also observed in the same age group. Histology was studied in 13 cases. Four showed minimal change; 8 showed proliferative changes; and 1 showed a mixed change. Histology was well correlated with the response to steroids. However, no such correlation existed between histology and other clinical and biochemical parameters. Our data have been compared with that of other workers from India and the West.
