Computer assisted stathmokinetic and FLM data analysis of cell cycle time in the germinal centre of the spleen: Effect of Prednisolone

  • Published:
Virchows Archiv B

Summary

The cell kinetics of lymphoid tissue from the germinal centre of the BALB/c mouse spleen have been studied using3H-TdR and stathmokinetic techniques employing vincristine sulphate. FLM data were analysed using a computer program which yielded a cell cycle time of 13.03 h. Prednisolone produced a fall in the cell birth rate, mitotic index and labelling index (P < 0.02), prolonging apparent cell cycle time by 7.87 h. Splenic weight also fell significantly in the Prednisolone treated group (P< 0.001).
