Magnetic moments of baryons in a nonrelativistic quark model with unequal quark masses

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1971-1996)

Summary

We consider the magnetic moments μ=(eħ/2M pc)g of baryons in a nonrelativistic quark model with unequal quark masses. We obtain results forg for three slightly different values of the quark masses and compare them with the equal quark mass case. For p, n Λ, Σ+, Σ, Ξ0 and Ξ we find very, good agreement with experiment. For baryons with a c-quark or a b-quark, Λ +c , Λ 0b , Ξ +c and Σ +c we obtain predictions but, as of yet, there are no experimental values with which to compare. The same is also true for the Σ0 and the Ω.
