Summary
Study of the peripheral blood and of smears of the sternal bone marrow of 15 patients with atrophic gastritis without pernicious anemia revealed no consistent abnormalities which might aid in identifying the cause of the gastric disease. A mild anemia, predominantly microcytic or macrocytic, was observed in seven patients.
