Abstract

Synthesis of series of 3-benzalphthalidyl-amino acids and their corresponding methyl esters, dipeptides and tripeptide methyl esters2a–7c is decribed. All 3-benzalphthalidynamino acids2a-g were found to possess a remarkable antimicrobial properties against a number of microorganisms and fungi.
