Economic Botany Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The variation in natural crossing between flowers of the same plant ranged from 0.7 to 15.0%, the mean being 4.4%.

The interplant variations ranged from 1.9 to 10.9%, the mean being 6.9%.

Natural crossing percentage for the entire plot, based on total counts, was 6.7.

A population size of 3000 seedlings was found to be adequate for a reasonably accurate estimate of the natural crossing.
