Identification of phenolic acids

Abstract

The effective components of Korean ginseng showing the lipid-peroxide depressing activity were isolated. From the ether-soluble acidic fraction of fresh ginseng three phenolic acids were obtained. Salicylic acid and vanillic acid exhibited the potent antioxidant activity, whereasp-hydroxycinnamic acid did not.
