Abstract
Misra etMisra (1981) have concluded, on the basis of an analysis of a grassland community, that there is significant negative correlation between species diversity and dominance indices. It is shown that this result is an unfortunate misunderstanding because negative correlation is an inevitable consequence of indices definitions. Some other shortcomings concerning diversity, stability and species-abundance distributions, contained in the paper, are pointed out.
