Abstract
The results of cytotaxonomical research inLactuca quercina L. andLactuca chaixii Vill. demonstrate that these taxa are closely related. Both have the same chromosome number 2n=18, which is different from all previous counts in the subgenusLactucopsis (n=8) and their karyotypes are extremely similar if not identical.
