On the transitivity of the relation β in semihypergroups

Abstract

In this paper the semihypergroups in which the relation β is transitive are characterized. As an application, a result of D. Freni ([4]) is obtained, namely that in a hypergroup β=β*. Some other classes of semihypergroups for which β is transitive are presented.
