The latest advance in very low core loss grain oriented silicon steels

  • Published:
Journal of Materials Engineering

Abstract

By applying various magnetic domain refining techniques to high permeability, grain oriented silicon steel sheets (Orientcore HI-B), core loss can be greatly reduced. The effect is greater for thinner sheets. When 7 mil Hi-B was treated with the heat-resisting technique, a core loss of about 0.22 w/lb (at 1.3 T/60 Hz) was obtained on a commercial scale.
